New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) Re-Assessment

Who should attend?

This re-assessment is suitable for any operative or supervisor who already holds a current New Roads and Streetworks qualification that needs renewing.

Course Aims & Objectives

The purpose of the re-assessment is to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform duties in line with the current New Roads and Street Works Act, in order to safeguard themselves and others.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Refresh their understanding of the requirements of the NR&SW Act 1991.
  • Sit re-assessment exams for each certificate they hold that they wish to renew.

Course Outline

LA and O1 are the two key certificates for operatives. If you are an operative, you therefore need the following to be qualified to excavate or reinstate:

  • LA – Location & avoidance of underground apparatus;
  • O1 – Signing, lighting and guarding; and
  • The relevant O-certificate(s), from O2 to O8

LA and S1 are the two key certificates for supervisors. If you are a supervisor, you therefore need the following to be qualified to monitor excavation or reinstatement:

  • LA – Location & avoidance of underground apparatus;
  • S1 – Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding; and
  • The relevant S-certificate(s), from S2 to S7

LA – Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
O1 – Signing, lighting and guarding
O2 – Excavation in the highway
O3 – Reinstatement and compaction of backfill material
O4 – Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials
O5 – Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials
O6 – Reinstatement of hot-lay bituminous materials
O7 – Reinstatement of concrete slabs
O8 – Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways
S1 – Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding
S2 – Monitoring excavation in the highway
S3 – Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill material
S4 – Monitoring reinstatement of sub-base and road base in non-bituminous materials
S5 – Monitoring reinstatement of bituminous materials
S6 – Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs
S7 – Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

The delegate must undertake one question paper per unit; the time allowed for each question paper is 30 minutes.

The pass mark for all re-assessed tests is 80% (8 out of 10) questions for each Street Works unit.

Certification

On successful completion of the assessments, delegates will receive their certification which is valid for 5 years and will be registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register receiving an updated SWQR Card.

Duration

1-2 Days depending on the number of units required for re-assessing.

Location

We can offer courses on company premises for a maximum of 12 delegates or upcoming open courses in your local area.
